Dr. Shechter has demonstrated expertise in many types of research activities, beginning with his Ph.D. at the University of Washington Graduate School of Business and continuing with projects such as those mentioned above. He is especially familiar with a wide variety of information sources in his home state of Montana and would be pleased to use his knowledge and contacts to enhance your own production.
Joel Shechter shoots exclusively in the mini-DV digital format; he has additional experience with professional Sony Hi-8 and Betacam SP cameras. Cameras owned by JOSH Productions are the JVC DV-500 and the Sony VX-1000, mounted on Cartoni and Bogen tripods, respectively. Lighting equipment includes both 2-lamp and 4-lamp fluorescent Lowel fixtures, plus frenels. A professional Sony field monitor is also available.
Joel has extensive videotaping experience throughout Montana and would like to enhance your project with his skills.
JOSH Productions' editing suite consists of a PC with 382 Mb of memory, a 14 Gb and a 40 Gb hard drive, a DVRaptor editing card, with Adobe Premiere and Sonic Foundry software. In addition, there is a DHR-1000 DV editing deck, an HR-S6700U SVHS editing deck, a 1402-VLZ Pro mixer, and a four-VCR dub rack.
Joel Shechter has edited both short- and long-form (30 minute) productions
on this system,
including Montana Twilight: The Last of the Missouri River Ferries,
a half-hour documentary broadcast in 1999 on public television in three western states.
JOSH Productions' dub rates for VHS, SVHS or DV are highly competitive.
Joel Shechter has taught location sound as an Assistant Instructor in the Film & Video Certificate program at the University of Washington. In addition, he has extensive location sound experience with his own video documentaries.
JOSH Productions owns several high quality lavalier microphones, plus interview mics, an AM wireless, an FM diversity wireless, a professional 4-channel portable mixer (PSC), and a heavy-duty sound cart. Additional equipment (e.g., boom and shotgun mics) are rented from equipment houses when required.
Joel Shechter has five years experience as a legal videographer, recording video depositions, accident reenactments and remote teleconferences in Montana, Washington and Oregon.. He has also videotaped numerous Continuing Legal Education seminars for both the Montana Trial Lawyers Association and the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association.
JOSH Productions is available throughout the state of Montana and the northern Rockies for legal video work, and, in association with Naegeli Reporting (800-528-3335), in Idaho and Washington as well. All assignments are taped with a digital video camera. Delivery format can be either VHS, SVHS or DV. A high-quality four-tape dub rack insures the best VHS tapes possible when copies are required.
